Brutal Legend Review by Azisien

Posted in Azisien, Playstation 3, Reviews, Xbox 360 on October 30th, 2009

I have not played any other games designer Tim Schafer had a hand in, so my excitement for Brutal Legend really only began when I played the demo that appeared on Xbox Live shortly before the game’s release.  And boy did my excitement rise!  There are at most a handful of times a year where [...]

Brutal Legend Review by Noncon

Posted in NonCon, Playstation 3, Reviews, Xbox 360 on October 30th, 2009

In a nutshell: NonCon loves Brutal Legend because he doesn’t know any better and thinks his opinion that the stage battles don’t suck is more valid than everyone else’s opinion that they do. (4/5)

Brutal Legend Review by Mirai

Posted in Mirai, Playstation 3, Reviews, Xbox 360 on October 30th, 2009

In a nutshell: Mirai hates Brutal Legend because he couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to info about the game beforehand and he sucks at it. He does like how metal it is, though. (2/5)

Wet Review by Mirai

Posted in Mirai, Playstation 3, Reviews, Xbox 360 on October 23rd, 2009

In a nutshell: Wet is a decent idea not brought to the fullest extent – it promises being an acrobatic shooter but after the fifty millionth unnecessary Grindhouse homage and sideways shooting dive or slide you start to wonder when the game does something else. Anything else. 0/5

Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga Review by NonCon

Posted in Game Boy Advance, NonCon, Reviews on October 23rd, 2009

In a nutshell: Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga is a simple, yet incredibly creative, JRPG, with well implemented platforming and humor. The only thing holding it back are some of the tropes it has borrowed from JRPGs and Mario games alike. (3/5)

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Review by NonCon

Posted in Nintendo DS, NonCon, Reviews on October 16th, 2009

In a nutshell: KHDS is basically a sidequest expansion pack with cutscenes crammed in between to keep you from noticing. Only recommended for yaoi fangirls and people who really, really liked Kingdom Hearts II. (1/5)

Sometimes GPD doesn’t agree with itself. This time, Mirai hates Scribblenauts. Azisien doesn’t.

Scribblenauts Review by Mirai

Posted in Mirai, Nintendo DS, Reviews on October 16th, 2009

In a nutshell: Scribblenauts, a game with more hype than the second coming of Christ, limply drags itself along by a single concept that does nothing to disguise the terrible execution and tedious repetition the game lends itself to.

Halo: ODST Review by Mirai

Posted in Mirai, Reviews, Xbox 360 on October 9th, 2009

In a nutshell: Halo 3:ODST is, naturally, more of the same Halo, but deviates off of Master Chief’s path and instead grounds itself firmly in the human side of the story, featuring a kind of isolation, loneliness, vulnerability, storytelling, and immersion completely new to the Halo franchise. Even though the game is only so large, especially compared to Grampa Halo 3, packing in the Mythic Disc and access to Halo: REACH beta provides a neat little package that, while far from perfect, ties a nice package together. 4/5 Halos. Again.

Final Fantasy XII Review by NonCon

Posted in NonCon, Playstation 2, Reviews on October 9th, 2009

In a nutshell: FFXII is an absolutely great game that would have been even better if Matsuno hadn’t left, thus leaving us with a boring protagonist. Great gameplay, characters, and plot, the main downfall is the randomized chests and the unrewarding optional boss fights. (4/5)

Muramasa: The Demon Blade Review by Mirai

Posted in Mirai, Reviews, Wii on October 2nd, 2009

In a nutshell: Muramasa: the Demon Blade is an absolutely gorgeous 2d brawler game riddled with repetition and bogged by attempting to be twenty things it isn’t. These problems keep it from truly being anything more than a middling, repetitive, but very stylish beat-em-up. 2/5

Persona 3 FES Review by NonCon

Posted in NonCon, Playstation 2, Reviews on October 2nd, 2009

In a nutshell: Persona 3 FES is one of the greatest RPGs of all time, though it is not for everyone. It’s long as hell, funny, badass, sad, and difficult. Some of the monster designs range are meh, the music isn’t great, and it is in dire need of some streamlining. In spite of those flaws, it is still an amazing experience. (4/5)
